The employment scene in Vancouver was not healthy for me in the late eighties so spent a few years in Palm Beach Florida, working on megayacht integrated electronics systems. Whilst there met some wonderful friends, who introduced me to social limiricks, as a result I wrote a couple of hundred limiricks on several different subjects, some of which were mathematical, following are a few examples and would be great as a form of puzzles for you logic solvers;

 

How longs the log.

 

A frogs at one end of a log,

at the opposite end is a frog,

six foot from the frog,

and eight foot from the dog,

is a triangle, how longs the log. 

 

Combination Lock.

 

A locks combination is seen,

has three numbers that add to eighteen,

its root of the third,

for the first, so I heard,

two times that for second, old bean. 

 

Age of the Bride.

 

Try three times thirteen, and add five,

now double thirteen and divide,

to this just add five,

take the root to surmise,

eight times to this is the age of the bride.

 

Easy as pie.

 

If x is the square root of y,

and z is nine x, can you try,

to solve and to see,

how x+y equals z,

so whats x, you tell me.

 

What then is d.

 

Its true b+d equals c,

and c equals d then plus three,

if b equals three,

what then is c,

when six times b equals d.

 

Mathematical limericks are written to be

solved by mental arithmetic.
